Electrolysis for H2

Background

Hydrogen is currently on the energy strategy of all major governments of the world and electrolysis of water using electrolysers coupled with renewable energy supply is one promising route that many are following. But what are the challenges along the way? This section dives deep into some of these challenges.

Some of the research/technical questions that needs addressing are:

  1. Is electrolysis of water using electrolysers coupled with renewable energy supply the only way to produce 'Green Hydrogen'?

  2. Can every nation indeed be able to produce hydrogen by themselves and thus eliminate reliance on other nations for this fuel? How will hydrogen production interact with available water nexus?

  3. Will there be another disruptive technology that will usurp water electrolysis?
